Back in 1961, games had to be played in Lytham St Anne’s as Blackpool Council regarded it as immoral to play football on Sundays and refused to allow their pitches to be used.
In 1976 the smaller league merged with the main League to form the Sunday Alliance. With grassroots football thriving in the 80's and 90's the league had 9 Divisions with over 120 teams and a Committee of 13.
Following the decline in amateur Sunday leagues football over the past ten years, the league still runs just with lesser numbers, this was due to a high increase in small sided venues popping up over the Fylde in this period, providing your fix for football every night of the week.
The alliance is currently running three very competitive divisions of grassroots football along with the famous Sunrise Trophy (Former Gledhill Cup) which started way back in 1967. Additionally, each division is provided with its own divisional cup, these are a knockout competitions all of which are kindly and proundly sponsored by Berry Beds.
The league has well over 990 registered players taking part in the league and cup competitions.

I joined the committee in 2002/2003 season, but without a role due to my involvement as the manager of The Bispham Hotel FC.
Later, I became the Referees Officer in 2005/2006 season, a role I am still proud to hold today. I have previously held the position of Vice Chairman when the BFSFA had several officers; I held this position until I became Chairman in the 2017/18 season. I currently also hold the position of Discipline Officer too.

I have been on the committee since 2017, taking over the Legendary Dennis Peters as Fixtures Secretary. I have also picked up the tough task of keeping the clubs happy throughout the seasons with updating the stats, results and registration of the players for all of BFSFA registerd clubs. In the last two seasons I have taken on additional responsibility with there being a lack of volunteers to help run the Sunday Alliance. I also help out by running a club in Division one #KeepGrassrootsAlive
