Early risers such as myself could do a lot worse than taking an early morning stroll at Commonedge Road playing fields today.  A once in a lifetime sight awaits.  As we know, rain usually flows straight through the sand and the sight of standing water is a rarity.  However,  a combination of rock solid pitches and freezing rain has left lakes of ice across many of the pitches.  It might be pretty but the surface makes any football completely impossible.  We may have escaped without a single flake of snow on the Fylde Coast but like almost everywhere else a total weather wipeout has occurred for the first time this season. PS - the non gritted roads and pavements are lethal.  Back to bed then.

It's now official that all of tomorrow's matches apart from those scheduled for Lytham Cricket Club and Wrea Green have been postponed.  This is due to pitches that remain frozen, freezing rain and the forecast for snow.  If we get any further news on the two games that remain then we'll let you know via the Shoutbox.  Tomorrow's Cup matches are likely to be played next Sunday (12th) but this is yet to be confirmed.

Please note that our Guest Speaker on Monday 6th February will be Steve Thompson, Assistant manager at Blackpool Football Club. If you and your friends would like to ask him about the performance/future of the club, or what it is like working alongside
