Sportspy Reports 2007/08

After going through the official process the BFSFA Committee has ruled that the Bloomfield Hotel FC fielded an ineligible player in their away match against Skye FC on September 2nd 2007.  The player in question scored twice in a 4-4 draw.  The committee has ruled that the scoreline will now change to 4-2 in Skye's favour and that the Bloomfield Hotel will be deducted three points.  The league table has been updated as a result.
Next Sunday would have been Ben Parker's 27th birthday but unfortunately the ex Cahoots/New Castle FC keeper is no longer with us.  However, his friends and familly are holding an event in his memory to raise money for "Diabetes UK", Ben's charity.   Next Sunday, (October 28th), "Sundays" pub in town will be holding a Halloween fancy dress party.  It starts at 3pm and the
Today saw an early return to the Thornton Sports Centre this time to watch Premier Division side Hydronics FC host Wigan team Golborne Parkside FC in Round 3 of this season's Lancashire Sunday Trophy.
Division 3A and 3B teams please note that you should ring your results and scorers through to Peter Collins, for games played on 28th October.  Your respective secretaries will no doubt have his number.

PS - Last week's classfied check has now been published along with updated tables.

Once again the noon Wednesday deadline for the receipt of teamsheets by Dennis Peters has passed with significant numbers still missing.  Eighteen teams had failed to meet the deadline and before you start harping on about the postal strike many were teams who usually E-Mail or fax.  Not mentioning any names (Rangers, Gardeners) but the usually cheerful and patient Mr Peters is composing letters for minimum fifteen pound fines as I type.  He's a busy man, please do him and yourselves a favour by getting them in on time.
A great selection of third round Gledhill Cup ties on offer this morning making it a difficult choice of venue but in the end it was off to the Thornton Sports Centre to watch Premier Division side Golden Eagle FC in a difficult looking encounter against Division 3A favourites FC Eden.  An away tie in the 4th Round against Quilligans/Northern Care would be the reward for the victors.  Some additional photos from Boundary park are also included.
My first visit to the new Sunday footballing venue of Rossall school to watch 2B side Pulcinellas FC host Preston side AFC Ashwood in Round 2 of this season's Lancashire Sunday trophy.
